Community and Culture

We Learn

and pursue continuous improvement.

At the BMA we challenge our employees to challenge themselves by cultivating an engaging learning culture as we strive to keep pace with an ever-evolving financial services ecosystem and international regulatory and supervisory standards.

Developing skills and knowledge

The BMA cultivates multiple paths to professional and personal growth for its employees. From mentorship and leadership development to technical skills training, our employees are continuously engaged in learning. Each employee works closely with their manager to create an individualised professional development plan while also completing organisation-wide training that is designed to uphold the BMA’s reputation and credibility.

We also encourage our staff to connect, network and learn from each other. From inventive cross-functional teams that advance BMA-wide initiatives to introducing informal coffee chats that facilitate mentorship and idea exchanges, we encourage our staff to learn outside the ‘day-to-day’ scope of their work.

At the BMA, internal training is largely delivered through flexible online learning platforms. Geared towards the modern learner, these innovative tools offer our staff access to timely, relevant training to help them meet high standards of success. The BMA also supports the education and professional development of its employees, including upskilling and retraining for certain roles that are well-suited to these approaches.

Cultivating tomorrow's talent

Since 2009, the BMA’s esteemed Graduate Training Programme (GTP) has provided young Bermudian professionals with invaluable work experience across the BMA and opportunities to earn qualifications or professional designations. During the three-year programme, trainees gain regulatory and industry experience by being paired with skilled mentors inside the BMA. Participants are also seconded to local industry partners or international regulatory agencies.Upon completion of the programme, trainees are well-positioned to assume technical positions within the BMA.

Workforce development initiatives, such as our GTP, offer additional learning and professional growth pathways.
