Community and Culture

We Engage

with each other and the world.

The BMA empowers its staff to meaningfully engage with each other, with the local industry in Bermuda and with other jurisdictions and regulators worldwide.

Our employees continuously engage and collaborate--both internally and externally. This provides fulfilling workplace experiences that foster growth and success. By engaging meaningfully, we help create stronger teams and leaders, expand our organisational learning and inform our perspective as a world-class regulator and thought leader.

Internal Collaboration

We all want to feel that our actions are valued. At the BMA, we encourage teamwork and collaboration, providing the right experiences and support that employees need to be successful.

Our employees at all levels are also encouraged to provide input into decision-making and engage in knowledge-sharing activities. At the BMA, team achievements are both recognised and celebrated.

By working together, we are so much stronger--our employees can achieve their individual and team goals while also supporting the success of the organisation overall.

Education and Financial Literacy

As a financial regulator, we regularly engage in education initiatives, including partnering with other organisations on education initiatives:

Bermuda Notes and Coin Exhibit
Opened by the BMA in 2007, this informative display is housed at BMA House and caters to both tourists and locals, including school groups. The exhibit demonstrates how coins are made and provides a history of Bermuda notes and coins from their beginning to the modern day.

Foundations of Bermuda’s International Re/Insurance Sector Course
Since 2020, our BMA experts have been involved in teaching components of this course related to the role of regulation in insurance and the captive insurance industry. An annual partnership between Bermuda College, The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers and St. John’s University in New York, provides this 14-week course and covers the evolution of Bermuda’s (re)insurance industry and its economic significance.

Domestic and Industry Engagement

The BMA works closely with the Government of Bermuda and sits on several key Bermuda-based committees that are critical to the protection of Bermuda’s economic well-being:
