Meet Donna Mae, a Receptionist in the Business and Operations Support Department. We interviewed her to learn more about her reasons for giving back to the community. Take a moment to read her story.
I have been running and/or walking for charity for 27 years.
I choose to run/walk for charity because it allows me to make a meaningful difference.
I do not have a particular charity that I run/walk for but these are a few of the charities I have supported: Bermuda Diabetes, Bermuda Union of Teachers, Women’s Resource Centre, Bermuda Red Cross, Coalition For The Protection of Children, Tomorrow’s Voices, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda (OCAB), PALS, Alzheimer’s & Dementia Bermuda to name a few.
I feel I have made an impact by acting as Race Director for two years for the OCAB 5K which saw close to 300 participants support the cause for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Bermuda. My participation in events year after year and donating money on the sign up page of the event is another great way to make an impact.
I believe my charitable involvement aligns with the BMA’s core values through my Professionalism: whatever I set my name to, I make sure to hold myself to a high standard with Professionalism, Integrity, Accountability and definitely Collaboration.
